The UK National Heat Transfer Committee hold a dinner every two years, coinciding with the UK National Heat Transfer Conference, at which two Life Time Achievement Awards are given to members of the heat transfer community, that have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of the science.
We are pleased to announce that this year, two Past Presidents of the Heat Transfer Society were awarded the Life Time Achievement Awards.
Martin Gough, founder and Managing Director of CALGAVIN Limited. In 2025 Martin opened The Centre for Flow Processing (CFP), the dedicated research arm of CALGAVIN, uniting academic research and industrial expertise in fluid flow, heat and mass transfer. CFP is revolutionising industrial performance by solving process challenges and developing energy efficient technologies that meet the demands of tomorrow’s world. Martin was President of the Heat Transfer Society from 2019-2021 and was also Chairman for many years.
Peter Heggs, FREng, FIChemE, CEng, BSc, PhD (Leeds) is an Emeritus Professor of the University of Manchester, and currently, is a Visiting Research Professor at the University of Leeds. He spent 4 years in the USA with Union Carbide Corporation and then became an academic at the Universities of Leeds, Bradford, UMIST and Manchester. Peter was President of the Heat Transfer Society in 1994.
Members of the Heat Transfer were also there to award this years prize for the best Undergraduate Thesis submitted to UK Universities, which was awarded to Lykourgos Saravanos from Newcastle University entitled "Modeling A Novel Solar Receiver for Steam Production."
