In July 1989 Claudette became involved in the heat transfer industry when she was hired as President and CEO of Heat Transfer Research, Inc. She oversaw the relocation of the office to Texas and led HTRI into global growth and a current membership of almost 1000.

The concept of heat transfer has been around since early man discovered fire. Historic records report that around 850, in the Islamic Empire, a refined lamp oil was made. In the mid-1800’s a Canadian geologist and a Scottish chemist were creating paraffin oil
(kerosene to Americans).

Process heat transfer engineering, like most disciplines, continues to evolve. World-wide energy demands, increased technological and multidisciplinary options, changes in education, and a workforce in transition are all contributing to the evolution of 21st century
heat transfer engineering. What do coming years hold for all of us with careers related to process heat transfer?
