The talk inntroduced the HyNet cluster. HyNet is a Track 1 industrial decarbonisation cluster, selected by the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero, to spearhead industry's journey to net zero. The talk with give a summary of how HyNet, and its partners, intend to remove carbon dioxide being emitted by industry, and produce low carbon hydrogen to enable industry to fuel switch across the North West of England and North Wales regions.

David Walker, Project Manager at Progressive Energy, a member of the HyNet Consortium.

David project manages the carbon capture and storage (CCS) infrastructure development for HyNet North West’s partner consortium. David’s pivotal role in the UK’s leading industrial decarbonisation cluster project includes engineering, consenting and land agreements.

Prior to joining Progressive Energy, David was the Head of Engineering at an organisation focusing on the utilisation of CO2 with in polymeric products, successfully developing a catalyst and process from a TRL 3 to a TRL 7, ready for commercialisation.

Previously, David worked as a Project Manager at Johnson Matthey, delivering complex development and capital projects. This included the development and FEED engineering of Johnson Matthey’s cutting edge syngas technology in addition to the commissioning and the operation of syngas plants around the world; leading multi-faceted teams in the development of novel catalytic products.

David is co-chair of the Carbon Capture and Storage Association Supply Chain sub-committee during this exciting time of CCS scale-up.
