At the time of his presidency, Stuart Cameron, MBE, had recently retired as Chief Engineer with Doosan Babcock in the UK after 40 years' service and was continuing as a consultant on strategic issues and advisor to the Engineering Centre of Excellence. An ASME Fellow serving on various ASME committees, including the Section I Power Boiler Committee, Council for Certification and Standards, Board on Conformity Assessment and is Vice Chair of ASME Board for Strategic Initiatives for Certification and Standards. A Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineering where he was Vice President, chairing the International Strategy Board and also past Chair of the Scottish Region Committee. He was also a Visiting Professor at University of Strathclyde where he established the MSc programme for Power Plant Systems which all Doosan Babcock graduates attend. He is past chair of the Industry Advisory Board for the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department at Strathclyde. He was very proud of the heritage of Scottish engineers and their impact on engineering throughout the world, and promotes this as a member of the Selection Committee for the Scottish Engineering Hall of Fame.
