Eddie Watters has been in the Fired Heater business for over 40 years, having initially joined Born Heaters in 1969 as a Senior Engineer
responsible for thermal and mechanical design of fired heaters. He progressed through being Engineering Manager to Engineering Director in 1976, where he was responsible for all aspects of Fired Heater design, including Thermal and Mechanical, estimating, and technical sales, but his special interest was in the thermal design and rating of the Heaters. In 1997 Born Heaters was brought by Boustead and became Boustead International Heaters, and he continued in the role of Engineering Director until he retired, becoming a Consultant to Boustead. He was a founding member of the technical committee responsible for the introduction of ISO 13704, Calculation of Heater-tube Thickness in Petroleum Refineries, and ISO 13705, Fired Heaters for General Refinery Service, continuing in this role through the co-branding of these standards, with API 530 and API 560. Eddie is the nominated UK expert for the updating and maintaining of these standards, which is led by the API Committee for Heat Transfer Equipment.
