The hts was honoured to support the 18th UK National Heat Transfer Conference And Dinner held at the University of Birmingham on the 9-11th of September 2024.
The UK National Heat Transfer Conference organised under the aegis of the UK National Heat Transfer Committee every two years, is the premier forum in the UK for the local and international heat transfer community to meet, disseminate ongoing work and discuss the latest advances in the heat transfer field.
Conference highlights included:
- 6 Keynote Lectures
- 9 Special Sessions with 6 talks each
- Industrial session run by the heat transfer society
- Sponsorship from 5 companies
- Total of 159 abstracts submitted with 140 presented at the conference
- 170 delegates and speakers from Italy, Germany, Korea, Japan, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, France, USA, Turkey, India, China, Algeria, Russia, Poland, Singapore, Taiwan, Spain and the UK.
The UK Heat Transfer Society organised the industrial session. David Norton, the HTS Chairman, from Boustead International Heaters moderated the session consisting of six talks by:

- Heat Pumps: Enablers of Decarbonization.
The Dinner and award ceremony was held at the Botanical Gardens. The Heat Transfer Society awarded the prize for the best Undergraduates/Masters Thesis in Heat Transfer for 2024. The hts committee selected a thesis by undergraduates from the University of Leeds entitled "Computer-Enabled Optimisation Of A Heat Exchanger For Preheating Hydrogen In Future Aerospace Propulsion Systems".
